Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Documents installation and upgrades of all application software.
  • Analyzes, resolves and documents problems associated with applications software.
  • Detects, diagnoses, documents and reports problems on desktop systems.
  • Schedules installations and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.
  • Installs new software releases, system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches and resolves software related problems.
  • Monitors and tunes the desktops to achieve optimum performance levels.
  • Ensures workstation data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions.
  • Conducts routine software and hardware audits of workstations to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.

  • Attends selected technical conferences, technical training, and participate in industry teams or working groups as appropriate.

  • Researches and recommends equipment and software solutions for stated needs.

  • Ensures availability and security of Active Directory and Exchange services.

  • Provides user account management and security for internal and external users.

  • Repurposes older computers to be used as single-purpose network devices.

  • Procurement of desktop equipment.

  • Record all purchases in asset management database and performs quarterly audits.

  • Maintain knowledge of the following areas:
    • Windows Server 2003-2008
    • Windows XP, Windows 7
    • Virtual Server and Desktop Environments
    • Active Directory Environment (policies, account management)
    • Workstation imaging and rollout
    • VLANS
    • DHCP
    • Print servers
    • DNS
    • Firewalls
    • Routing
    • Microsoft Office
    • Learn basics of Practice Management Systems
